Here Is Where We Share Inspirational Stories of Palestine

Palestine Stories is an initiative to bring inspiring stories of Palestine to the world and the Palestinian diaspora of 5 million spread around the world. This initiative was initiated through TEDxRamallah but grew beyond the event and called for a more sustainable umbrella that will assure that these stories and inspirations will live beyond the TEDxRamallah event.

Palestine Story 31: Freedom Theatre

Those who participate in The Freedom Theatre say it is their lifeline. Without it, they too would be in prisons or on their way. A legacy of Arna Mer Khamis, the Freedom Theatre was rebuilt by 2005 by her son, an Israeli/Palestinian actor, in Jenin. A cultural hub and restaurant, Hosh el‐Eliyyeh is run and managed by the couple, Mazen and Julia Saadeh. The couple organizes cultural activities and artistic workshops, such as hand crafts and drawings that may be simple in form but have a large impact on the children's mentality and the sense of community in Birzeit.

'Music is the most important thing in my life. It gives me a feeling of freedom.' And where youssef Abu Eid, 12, lives, freedom is hard to find. Shatila refugee camp houses over 12,000 people in one square kilometer. In a place where it is difficult to escape from others, Youssef's weekly violin lessons give him something else to concentrate on.
